Help Armstrong Ongera Raise Funds for Karon Water Project

My name is Armstrong Ongera. I have been a lifelong volunteer for community service in Kenya.
I'm raising funds to help drill The Karon Water Borehole, a project that will benefit St Bakhita Girls School and SACC Orphanage as well as over 3000 households.
Karon is a village surrounded by rugged terrain at the base of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. The village is one of the worst regions to be born as cattle rustling,teenage marriage,female genital mutilation,hunger,bandit attacks and insecurity.
Water Scarcity at Karon
THE KARON WATER PROJECT
Karon Village is located in Kacheliba, West Pokot County. The Karon Village is in an arid area with an acute shortage of clean drinking water and food. Karon Village has an approximate population of 5000 families with St Bakhita Girsl School, one of the only school in the entire village dedicated to girls-child education in boarding school.
The village suffers from a lack of clean water supply. The School and the community at large have undergone unheard human miseries due to constant droughts and unreliable rainfalls. Most of the rivers in the area are seasonal, an indication that there is no constant water supply. The Village and the school has undergone a lot of miseries as it has not been able to access enough clean water to the children, women and the larger society. Thus the community and the children are generally at the mercy of their creator since the cleanliness of such waters is not assured.
The St. Bakhita Girls Secondary   School’s current enrollment stands at 268. Its sister school-St  Pauls Gilrs Primary School has a student population of 350. This is expected to grow since it’s one of the only Girls school in Karon Village. Local population are really starting to embrace Girl Child Education. The Sunshine Africa Water Project-Karon will directly impact over 3000 families besides the school.
Beside water, the school has the following challenges:
  1. Classroom Shortage;
  2. Dormitory Shortage;
  3. Insufficient Toilets/Latrines or Poor Sanitation;
  4. Lack of Transportation and Mobility;
  5. Lack of Electricity;
  6. Lack of Library and Computers;
  7. Lack of Sufficient Learning Materials;
  8. Shortage of Food;
  9. Lack of Sanitary Towels; and
  10. Insecurity
The St. Bakhita Girls School is surrounded bybreathtaking scenes, harsh environment, savanna plains, hills and mountains.

Project Concept
The project idea is to improve access to clean water for the pupils and the community at Karon Village through borehole drilling. There will be The Sunshine Africa Water Project Committee headed by Armstrong Ongera on behalf of the  AID Kenya Foundation to coordinate the drilling of the water borehole atSt. Bakhita Girls School, and  Sunshine Africa Children’s Center  as well extending a water pipeline to the surrounding villages where most of the children comes from.
After completion, the project will be handed over to the  Karon Community Water Project Team and SACC Community School and under the  Karon Community Water Resources Management Committee  that will supervise the continued use of the water borehole to full participation of community at different stages of the project and the water use. The Committee will seek the services of the boreholes drilling company and water pump Supply Company for repair. It will also coordinate the entire project while seeking technical advice from the experts.
